Primary ATL Progress Reports – October 2023

Good Afternoon!
As stated on the calendar, the October ATL Progress Reports will be sent out to parents on Friday, 20th October. This informs the parents how their child has progressed and settled in the first weeks of school. As you know, this year we will be completing all reports on ManageBac.
Please see below the guidelines for report writing, which includes the instructions as to how to complete the reports on ManageBac. During our staff meeting on Wednesday afternoon we will run through these instructions.

Parents bring food onto campus (eg Birthday Cake)

Now that the campuses are fully open, we have had a number of requests for parents to bring in cakes etc to celebrate their child’s birthday. Whilst this is fine, there are a number of considerations that parents need to pay attention to. Therefore, when teachers receive this request, please adapt the following email message as appropriate, and send it to the parents.

ECE & Primary Packing and Moving Guidelines 2022-23

Dear all,

As you know, over these next week and a half, our main task is packing up the classrooms. Please see the End of Year Packing/Task Checklist, Room Number & Use documents and Staff List to find out where your classroom will be next year.

Please take note of the following important points:

  • It is extremely important that everything is labelled for both Primary RP & CP…desks, chairs, furniture etc.
  • Personal resources must be labelled clearly as we don’t want boxes and materials lost.
  • Place any shared resources carefully in the ERC. Please do not leave them on the floor and place them on the correct shelf.
  • Items that are stored in fixed shelves can remain.

Reminder -Summer Renovations

  • Each year we also ensure that repairs are undertaken before the start of the academic year. Please can we ask that Year Level Leaders work with your teams to check all classrooms/learning areas and make note of any repairs needed. Please complete the survey below and submit these repairs.

Please feel free to speak with Year Level Leaders or Co-Heads if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Melissa & Jon

End of Year and Leaving Certificates June 2023

Dear Co-Teachers,

Like last year, we will give an individualized award to every student which celebrates an area they have tried hard or excelled at over the year.

With this in mind, we have prepared the award template. These awards should be shared at class parties in the last week.

You will find the templates for these certificates below (separate templates for RP and CP)

Action points

End of Year Certificates

  • Create a certificate for each student with their name and the reason for their award, by changing the names and reasons currently on the template.  You can work with specialists and EAL teachers (if relevant and necessary) to find an appropriate reason. You can use the comments from the specialists for the reports to help you.
  • Make sure you insert both co-teachers’ names at the bottom of the certificate.
  • Please ensure that the reason for the certificate starts with “For….”.
E.G: For always being willing to ask for help when she needs it
  • The reason should be appropriate and reflect something positive they have done or worked at this year. A set of sample reasons is attached for your reference below. Possible Encouragement Award Reasons
  • The reason should not be “jokey”-e.g “For being the biggest chatterbox”. Find something genuine to celebrate.
  • Please give an individualised reason for each student.
  • Once you have typed up your certificates, send a soft copy of them to one of your colleagues to proofread. Please ensure you do not send certificates home with any errors or typos.
  • Once certificates are completed, class teachers can collect good paper from the office for printing.

Leaving Certificates

  • Students who are leaving at the end of the school year, please can you present to them the Leaving Certificate also. This can be presented at the class party or the last Year Level Assembly.
  • Once certificates are completed, class teachers can collect good paper from the office for printing.  In previous years, class teachers have put a couple of photos on the back of this certificate and students have signed their name.  Please decide as a year level.
