Unfortunately the air pollution is very high today, so we will move to Red Air Level. This will mean that we will postpone the RP evacuation/lockdown drill until next week. Will update you soon.

Please  keep the outside doors and windows closed.

Please note the following points:

  • Please keep a close eye on students with respiratory conditions today
  • PE lessons, recess and lunch breaks moved indoors
  • RP Courtyard available as usual
  • Outdoor CCAs will be moved indoors if the level remains at red at the end of the day.
  • We will notify you if the AQI level reduces – please check email before recesses, particularly if you are a duty teacher.

Visitors from the YCYW Network School – Monday to Wednesday

From Monday to Wednesday, we will have visitors from YWYT school, which is their SLT and the representative ED. They will stay at YCPD for 3 days, including campus and class visits, meeting different leaders and teachers, joining various meetings and events. This is part of the sister school collaboration and learning from each other.

On Monday they will spend most of the time at RP, Tuesday will be their CP Day and Wednesday is a bit mixed. Therefore, we hope this will help them to get a comprehensive and insightful experience of how the YCPD team and our whole community works together. Please see the schedule attached.

YW-YT Co-Principals Visit March 13-15

Different leaders will tour them around the campus and will try best not to interrupt classes. However, if the visitors do come into the class, please can teachers just greet the visitors and carry on as normal. We very much appreciate your support, enthusiasm and professionalism, representing the YCPD spirit as always.

Mary, Andy, Kian and Sissy

School Closure Monday afternoon and Tuesday full Day

As you are aware due to the severe weather warnings, students will be dismissed early this afternoon (1:15pm for RP & 1:30pm for CP) and school will be closed tomorrow. Having been through e-Learning before, we recognise that it is prudent to prepare ourselves for any emergency situation whereby we would be forced to temporarily close our school doors. We ask all the teachers to note the following points and undertake the listed important actions.

• Technology Devices: Teachers are expected to take their laptop, iPad and charger home everyday

• Seesaw and Blog check-up: Ensure all students have access to Seesaw and Blog

• Set-up Classin – Accounts information will be sent to you soon and ensure set up your Homeroom and Chinese Class (Primary)

• Parents Contact information: It will be important to ensure that teachers have all the relevant contact information for parents (eg, email addresses, phone numbers). School office will send the most updated class list/emergency contact information.

• Access to the internal School Network: Download the school VPN which will allow teachers to access the school’s internal network, including: server and GMIS. Please see Garfield’s if you need support.

Expectation in Primary

  • In Primary, Year Leaders will shortly receive an email outlining work that needs to be organized and sent home this afternoon as well as work that needs to be organized on the blog for Tuesday. Work will need to be set for English, Mathematics, Topic and any specialist subject teaching classes on Tuesday. Chinese teachers will send work directly through email.
  • We will provide some release for teachers to help prepare for this afternoon and tomorrow. We also encourage teachers to combine classes to help in the preparation of work for students to take home this afternoon.

Expectation in ECE

  • ECE Teachers will prepare Seesaw activities throughout the day including Chinese, English, Math and Art.
  • We will release the year level leaders to prepare the Seesaw activities in the morning. More information will be followed up soon.

Along with this, both ECE and Primary class co-teachers will also be required to organise a short ClassIn check-in with students on Tuesday morning. Further information on this and set up instructions will be provided in an email.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask Sissy, Cathy, Jon or Melissa for Primary and Joanne and Michelle for ECE.

We are aware of the short notice of this all, and we thank you for your efforts to support use in preparing for closure. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask Sissy, Cathy, Jon or Melissa for Primary and Joanne and Michelle for ECE.

The Shire (RP)

We will open this up during recesses starting from Wednesday, which the children will be very happy about! However, with the aim of avoiding a huge rush, we only wish to have one year level playing on it at any one given time. Please note the following measures:

  • Morning/Afternoon recess – please can the Y1-2 and Y3-4 team leaders work out a rotation system. Eg Y1 morning recess, Y2 afternoon recess,…or equivalent  – YL, please decide between you.
  • Lunch recess – This will be fully open, as only one year level is outside at any given time.

For duty teachers, please be very vigilant. We can reflect on these arrangements at the end of this week, and make changes if necessary. Please see a CLT member for any immediate concerns.

Teachers Day – Coffee, Pies & a small token of our appreciation ☕️🥧 🎁

We would like to combine our celebrations of Teachers Day and Parent Info Evenings together.

As you would have seen, HR will be providing coffee and refreshments in the reception room (RP) and staff lounge (CP) in time for morning recess.

Don’t forget that the theme for this year’s celebration is #teachingismysuperpower in recognition of our super teachers (a.k.a. YOU!). To bring a little bit of light-hearted fun into the event, HR has placed some stickers and photo props at the venues, feel free to take some fun pictures. If you wish to share the pictures on your social media profiles, we encourage you to include the hashtags #teachingismysuperpower, #ycyweducation, and #ycisshanghai.

Also, to celebrate everyone’s stunning efforts in preparing for this week’s and next week’s Parent Information Evenings (PIE),  CLT will provide some actual pies for you, also available during morning recess in the staff lounges at both campuses.

As a small ‘Teachers Day‘ gift,  a special (limited edition!) re-usable YCIS mask will be provided for each staff member – please pick up in the reception room (RP) and office (CP).

ECE Leaders

Please note that VPs and Heads of ECE will not be available this afternoon. During this time, if any issues arise, please see Debby (ECE) or Jon/Mel (Pri) .
