As discussed during yesterday’s meeting, please can all teachers check their Staff Bios by the end of today if possible. They shouldn’t need many amendments if any. Any changes that you do make, please do so in a different coloured font. The general order od the bio is:

NAME + BACKGROUND + ABOUT YOUR ROLE + PERSONAL NOTE.

The bios have all been placed on a spread an excel spreadsheet, and is placed on Teams. Please make changes directly to this excel document via the following link: Staff bios link

Lunch Cards

For the lunch cards, please can teachers be very careful that only the cards of children who have school lunch are handed in. There have been a few cases at RP over the first few days where children have been charged for lunch, when they were absent from school, or had home lunch.

Charter for Success

During our welcome assemblies, Sissy and I will be showing a video that YCIS HK have created related to the character development. Linked to this, we will also explain the charter for success, which outlines the responsibilities and commitments of the school, parents or guardians and students.

After the assembly, we would like to ask that all classes from Year 1-6 discuss and sign the Charter for Success – classroom version ( Charter For Success). Whilst some of the wording and vocabulary used is quite advanced, please can teachers explain the charter in age-appropriate ways for our younger students. The office will print an A3 version for each classroom, and will let you know when it is ready to collect.

Please see procedures below:

  1. Go through the expectations of the school and the expectations of the students from the Charter for Success with your class
  2. Sign the document in front of the students
  3. Ask each student in the class to sign the document
  4. Have the document returned to the school office where it will be laminated for you
  5. Once laminated, you as the homeroom teacher are to place the document somewhere in your classroom/learning community where it is prominent and can be referred to throughout the year. We would like everyone, students and teachers, to be committed to it, and for it to be a meaningful process.

We aim to have this fully completed by Friday, 10th September. Thank you for your help with this.

Please check this carefully to ensure your duties have remained the same:

Outlook Booking ‘The Shire’ – RP

‘The Shire’ (AKA The Hills, The Forest….) will be available for lessons from Friday this week. Please can class teachers  take the children to the area for a session between Friday 3 – Thursday 10 Sept, to run through safety expectations etc… Primary teachers can use their Class PE time-slot for this to avoid clashes. The Shire will be open during recess from Friday, Sept 10. Prior to next Friday,  it would be good to develop a set of guidelines for playing on the area – please send any suggested bullet points to Jon, and we will collate them before next week.

Also, to make it easier for people to use this area in the future, it will now be able to be booked via the Outlook booking system from tomorrow onwards (it is labelled ‘The Shire’). If you do not know how to use this system, then please check with your team leader.

PD Mondays – Message from Andy

First Day Procedures – Student Arrival

  • At RP,  as some students may not know/remember the location of their class, please note the following support needed this morning:
    • EAL teachers stand by the bus entrance by 7.40pm, helping students to their classes as they arrive.
    • Specialist teachers/interns stand by the entrance between Building A and Building B (may need to spread yourselves our between the courtyard and ECE Building).
  • There will be a couple of sets of class lists to collect from the RP office on Tuesday morning to help identify children’ classes as they arrive.
  • For CP, most students will know the location, although there will be some new students that will not know. Please can team leaders arrange a couple of teachers from Y5 and Y6 to stand at the gate to help students locate their class if necessary.

First Day Preparations

Please check the following list of preparations for the first day:

Preparation for the First Day 2021[1]

A couple of reminders regarding arrangements today:

  • Please arrange a tour for your class/year level. Please pay particular attention to the safety aspects of the play structure and the Hills (RP).
  • The RP field will be open for recess times, although there are still a few areas that need to be finished off (eg the edges of the field) – but it is safe to go on there. ‘The Hills’ will remain closed during recess for this first week. However, it will be open for teachers to take their classes during Class PE.
  • The dismissal arrangements remain the same as last year at RP & CP. Please try to ensure your classes are on the field (RP) by 3.15pm.
  • Lunch times – we need all hands on deck for the first week.
  • Specialists will start in the afternoon at RP, to allow students to settle into their homerooms and to conduct their tour.

Important Health & Safety Messages

Now that the students are back on campus, it is important to follow all Health & Safety protocols strictly again, and emphasise the importance of keeping healthy and safe to our students. Some examples are below:

  • Observe physical distancing measures where possible, specifically transitioning between classrooms in hallways/stairwells and when lining up/returning after recesses. Link to the Helping Hands.
  • Staff on gate duty should  wear masks during the mornings and afternoons. Also, when students are dismissed on the field (RP), staff should wear a mask.
  • The back stairwell (RP) is to remain closed, and only used if a child is unwell and needs to go to the nurse.

Good Morning,

Congratulations to all of our K2 teachers for a really smooth orientation yesterday. I saw lots of happy children and parents! Also a big Well Done to Joanne Beaumont-Bates, whose recently acquired first aid skills were put to the test when a parent fell ill yesterday! It illustrated how important the training was.

Good luck to all the other year levels for today’s orientation.
