Please also note that we will have a few teachers from our partner local school visit our campuses. Please say hello / welcome them should you see them around the campus, or if they visit your classroom.
RP Courtyard during recess times
The RP courtyard has the Chinese and English reading exhibition pieces in it until the end of today.
It will remain open, but can duty teachers and co-teachers, please remind students about looking with their eyes, not hands. Students shouldn’t be playing close to the tables. No equipment in the courtyard for these two days. Thank you.
Happy Book and Language Week! 행복한 책과 언어 주간!
I hope that learning about these languages through a shared story has made the week a memorable one 😊
Here is our final Book and YCYW Language Week activity for Primary, Friday April 28:
- Take a look at these 5 fun facts about Korean, together with your class: 5 Fun Korean Language Facts.docx
- Then look together at these keywords for today’s read-aloud recording. With your students, see if you can pronounce them:
- Share the 3minute recording of the read-aloud with your class. See your year level leader for Friday’s recording.
- Allow students to try the follow-up crossword activity: https://thewordsearch.com/puzzle/5492959/korean-word-search/

Admission procedure for new students on campus for the 1st day
We want to update you on some of the admission procedures for new students who start YCIS mid year.
- The Admission Team will meet the families at the gate, and escort the new student together with the parent to their classroom. The parents will drop their child off at the classroom, and will then leave with the admissions officer.
- If more than one or two students start school on the same day, ECE and Primary leaders (CLT members) will be at the gate to welcome them.
- When the new parents drop their child off, please ensure to warmly welcome them, show the child their locker, their desk and introduce to their student buddy.
- The admission team will inform you a few days prior to the start date so you can make the necessary arrangements in time.

STAFF LOUNGE
I have had a few recent requests from international staff members regarding contact details of financial advisors that can help with pensions, mortgages, tax and investments for expats in China. Please see below a couple of contacts who have worked with some teachers at YCIS before. The first is a financial advisor, Nick Chilver, and the second is Chris Morris, who specializes in property purchases and investments.
Two more option have been added from yesterday: Hargreaves Landsdown, who are more for the independent investor, and AES- an Expat Wealth Management firm. I have added their info in the link below:
Please note that these contacts are not affiliated with YCIS in any way, and any investments undertaken are completely at the person’s own risk.
