Primary April Progress Reports 2023

Preparation for the April Progress Reports commence this week.

We have attached the Progress Report Instructions outlining expectations and the timeline to support you in completing these reports. For this report, teachers across all subjects (including specialist teachers) will be asked to provide an effort grade for each of the Approaches to Learning (ATL) Criteria.

Semester 2 April Progress-Report-Procedures and Guidelines.docx

Please make note of the following points:

  • EAL teachers please make note of the timelines set and pass comments directly to class teachers. These will be combined with the general comment.
  • Specialists teachers are also asked to share any comments necessary for students directly to teachers as this can provide a good picture of how the child is or is settling in for parents.
  • Moderation of effort marks is also scheduled into the timeline.
  • This is the first time we have done April Semester Two Progress Reports – Please see below key points and ideas of what can be included within the comment:

Below are some areas of focus you could include in the comment:

  • Return to school  – How they have settled back since holiday
  • ATLs towards achieving their aspirational goals and grades
  • Key areas of discussions within LC
  • Students involvement in CNY celebration activities

Do make sure that general comments from Semester 1 report do not conflict with what you write in your general comment for this report.

Please can we ask the Year Level Leaders to run through the guidelines in your team meetings this week.

If you have any questions, please inform Heads of Primary.

End of Year and Leaving Certificates June 2022

Dear Co-Teachers,

Like last year, we will give an individualized award to every student which celebrates an area they have tried hard or excelled at over the year.

With this in mind, we have prepared the award template. These awards should be shared at class parties in the last week.

You will find the templates for these certificates below (separate templates for RP and CP)

Action points

End of Year Certificates

  • Create a certificate for each student with their name and the reason for their award, by changing the names and reasons currently on the template.  You can work with specialists and EAL teachers (if relevant and necessary) to find an appropriate reason. You can use the comments from the specialists for the reports to help you.
  • Make sure you insert both co-teachers’ names at the bottom of the certificate.
  • Please ensure that the reason for the certificate starts with “For….”.
E.G: For always being willing to ask for help when she needs it
  • The reason should be appropriate and reflect something positive they have done or worked at this year. A set of sample reasons is attached for your reference below. Possible Encouragement Award Reasons
  • The reason should not be “jokey”-e.g “For being the biggest chatterbox”. Find something genuine to celebrate.
  • Please give an individualised reason for each student.
  • Once you have typed up your certificates, send a soft copy of them to one of your colleagues to proofread. Please ensure you do not send certificates home with any errors or typos.
  • Class teachers then create a PDF version of each certificate and send this PDF version to the students via email.

Leaving Certificates

  • Students who are leaving at the end of the school year, please can you present to them the Leaving Certificate also. This can be presented at the class party or the last Year Level Assembly.
  • These certificates will again be made into a PDF and then emailed to specific students via email.
