…and Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

As mentioned during the briefing yesterday, we had almost 100 nominations for everyday hero. If you get the time, do have a read through of all them (you’ll need to click to enlarge)…it’s a great way to lift you up in the morning. The MS form for the ‘everyday hero’  produced a Wordle of the main words and terms of the nominations, and it produced the following image. I think these words describe our staff perfectly. We really do have a great team.

Hope you all manage to have a restful break, and we wish everyone a happy Moon Festival and National holiday!

Message regarding Moon Festival:

• Please note that the Red courtyard will be used for Moon celebration purposes. Please avoid using it at the following times: 9:30-11:00 am and 1:00-3:00 pm.
• HR will arrange the Moon cake for staff to celebrate the Moon Festival in the Staff room at @9:00 am.
• The cafeteria will provide Moon cake for students and staff to taste during lunchtime
• Please be aware that many parents will come to the campus to support the Moon Festival activities.

A Group of New Zealand Principals Visit CP Campus This Afternoon

Beijing Language and Culture University recently hosted an exchange programme for a group of New Zealand principals in China, sponsored by the Chinese-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education. They have been visiting different cities and schools across China. Shanghai will be their final stop before they back to NZ. We are honored to have been selected as their only visiting school in Shanghai and demonstrate our uniquessness and philosophy as an international school. Therefore, we will welcome  a group of 12 NZ primary and secondary principals to visit our CP campus this afternoon from 2:00-3:30pm.

• 14:00  Welcome and SLT will give a brief introduction of our School (Staff Lounge)
• 14:30  Campus tour and Q&A (lead by SLT and VPs)
• 15:30  End of Tour and Group photo (Stairs near the canteen)

Message from CP Campus Student Support:

I have had to move this week’s student support workshop, ‘strategies to support students with ADHD and focus difficulties’ to next week. Please see the new dates below. 

The same workshop will run twice:

• Tuesday 26^th September –  P7 – Y6 Learning Community – ADHD/Focus Workshop for strategies to use in the classroom.
• Thursday 28^st September – P4- Y5 Learning Community – ADHD/Focus Workshop for strategies to use in the classroom.

I have had a number of staff requesting strategies or having difficulties with particular students, so I want to offer those staff my support. I will run some voluntary workshops for staff that are requesting various strategies. 

The workshops will focus on a particular need, and we can run these whilst there is a need for it. So, next week I will start with a focus on ADHD/focus strategies for in the classroom. This is aimed at Years 5-7 but anyone would be welcome to come along if you feel that this would support the students that you are teaching.
