Good Morning, and welcome to Semester 2!

We hope you have had a good Christmas holiday, and that you have managed to relax during the break.

Air Quality – Red Level

Please note the following points:

  • Please keep a close eye on students with respiratory conditions today
  • PE lessons, recess and lunch breaks moved indoors
  • RP Courtyard available as usual
  • Outdoor CCAs will be moved indoors if the level remains at red at the end of the day.
  • We will notify you if the AQI level reduces – please check email before recesses, particularly if you are a duty teacher.

Staff Absent

  • None

Procedures for returning students

As you know, parents were required to complete a survey indicating their travel plans this Christmas. For families who travelled, it is a requirement that they submit their covid report/s  by yesterday afternoon. If they still have not, then they will not be permitted onto campus. Please see the following list of all students who have not submitted their covid reports:

Not Submitted Students List 0104 By 8:00am

A number of staff will be at the gates/bus entrance this morning checking that the students on the list do not enter. However, we do ask that all  class teachers carefully check the list, and if any students come into your classroom at this time, then please take them to the quarantine area by the ECE Gate. Please note that the list will be continually updated as we receive the missing covid reports. We will inform the class teachers when this happens (please check your emails if one or more of your children are on the list).

E-Learning

At present, it is difficult to ascertain how many students will require quarantine. However, it is a stipulation that all students who require quarantine will be offered e-learning. The plan is as follows:

  • For any students on quarantine today, class teachers will be required to send home a letter outlining the e-learning arrangements – a template will be sent to all teachers soon – all you will need to do is to add the child’s name and teachers’ names.
  • At present, it is difficult to know how many will require e-learninmg. If there is a significant number, then we will use Classin for the live lessons. If it is limited to just a few in each year level, then we can use Zomo. We will let you know soon, once we have an update on numbers, and will send you the updated letter template.

Primary E-Learning Arrangements:

  • For today
    • class teachers to  send home work via email (Primary)
  • For tomorrow:
    • A weekly blog post of activities will be available to students via the Year level Blogs to be published at 8:00am tomorrow morning. Should include Mathematics, English, Topic and Specialists. Chinese activities will be sent via email directly from the Chinese teacher.
    • Students invited to attend live lessons for English, Maths. Chinese teachers will contact parents separately. Live lessons will use Classin or Zomo, depending on numbers.
    • If Classin, students to be assigned to Homeroom Classes by 5pm today and set up lessons in the course. To learn more about Classin you can go the All Staff teams channel and access video resources here.
    • If Zomo, please send out link by 5pm. The same link can be used for the whole week.

ECE E-Learning Arrangements

  • For today
    • class teachers to  send home work via SeeSaw, as per communication
  • For tomorrow:
    • Two activities to be posted per day on SeeSaw
    • Two live sessions per day.
    • If Classin, students to be assigned to Homeroom Classes by 5pm today and set up lessons in the course. To learn more about Classin you can go the All Staff teams channel and access video resources here.
    • If Zomo, please send out link by 5pm. The same link can be used for the whole week.

New Students – Important note

A number of new students will be starting this week. It can be quite a challenge to start a new school mid-way through the year, and so please can we provide one or two buddies to help then during the first few weeks.

Also, as the parents would not have had the information from orientation and parent information evening, please ensure that they receive all the information, including the initial intro email/newsletter, timetable, blog link  etc… and set up a Zomo meeting with them within two weeks after the start.  This will allow the parents to ask any questions that they may have at that time. This is a really important step to help create that relationship with the new families when they are unable to come onto campus.

ECE Gate Duty – Update

Book Swap – Message from Kathleen

Happy New Year! In the next couple of weeks, our students will be bringing in books for the book swap. Can you please put them somewhere in the room and I will come by to collect them on Friday to be disinfected? We are still working out a plan on how to distribute the books fairly among the grade levels and students. If you have any ideas on how to swap the books, please feel free to talk amongst your team and email me your ideas. Students that do not donate will also have the chance to take home books; it will just depend on the number of books we receive. Thanks!
