Settle In Time for today

K2 — Half day until 11:15am

K3 —  Half group full day, both K3 teachers stay with your children during lunch time, supply teacher will come in to cover you @ 12pm.

Please arrange with your co-teacher who will stay with the class upon dismissal and who will take the bus students to the cafeteria.

Outdoor Play

Please be aware for the ‘No hat today, Shade at Play policy’. Please ensure children have hats on when they play outside, Children without hats can only play under the shaded area.

Observation

Please work with co-teacher to write down observation for each child in terms of how they have settled and his/her development level.

Seesaw

You can start to upload photo now, but only one GROUP picture post at this point.

Amita has set up the Seesaw account for all ECE classes, you should now be able to get in now and upload photos.  We request that each class only uploads one post with photos on the blog at this point. And also, please note that Seesaw is not open to the parents yet. Please print the photos to stick on the children’s Diary Book once a week to share the information with parents until Seesaw opens to them.

Big thank you to everyone for your great effort in preparing for the Orientation yesterday. Please let the coordinator know if there is a concern or problem.

First day of school

• Please make sure your classroom is ready for the students, set up some activities that can engage your children, and prepare some games, music, stories for your group time
• If you receive any requests from the parents to which you are not sure how to respond, please talk to your co-teacher before give the answer to the parents
• K2/3 half day, K4 full day, both K4 teachers need to supervise student’s lunch. K2 teachers will come to release you @12pm
• Write down observation for each child in terms of how they have settled and his/her development level
• K4 teachers, please arrange with your co-teacher who will stay with the class upon dismissal and who will take the bus students to the cafeteria.
• Refreshments – These will be located in the cafeteria. Hopefully this will encourage parents to move away from the door window!

Tea/Coffee

To celebrate the first official school day, we will provide some coffee in the RP staff lounge today from 9.30am

Orientation Day

• Please stay in your classroom to welcome the families.  Please can all co-teachers meet the family members and find out basic information about each child (what he/she likes or dislike)
• Returning Family—9:00~11:30am
• New Family — 2:00~4:00pm

Few points to note:

• Please remember to wear your staff badges.
• Classroom set up — activities need to set up, simple and fun to engage children
• Staggered entry day — Confirm with the parents their child’s staggered entry date and time.
• Student list — register different information including allergies, lunch, school bus & full/half day
• Uniform — pass to the parents. If need to change, please direct parents to the main RP office (not Elain). There is also a help desk located in the courtyard. Please ensure parents sign the uniform sign-up sheet – to confirm that they have received their uniform.
• Welcome package — make sure parents receive their welcome package and to check the information. They can go to Elain for any changes or updates.
• YCIS Spirit T-shirts will be placed in the lockers for all new students.
• Please be aware that different parents have different personalities. Please be mindful of this when speaking to the different families and vary your approach as appropriate.
• Shuttle bus — school will provide to parents between RP to CP, please check the in service day schedule for details.
• Lunch provided for staff today @12pm

Co-Principal Document Signing – Message from Damien and Mary

If you need to have a document signed by the Co-Principals, please pass it to Jenni – either at RP Campus Office, or in her tray in the Office at CP Campus.  Jenni will bring to us to sign a few times a week.  As we are moving between campuses, and often not together, leaving them in our offices at CP or RP could result in forms being lost or forgotten.  Thanks!

This meeting will happen either in the morning or afternoon depends your first Aid time.Year leaders will inform you the time and location for your year level meeting.

RP Playground/Field

This morning, from 9-11am, the Marketing dept will be taking photographs of a few students for Marketing purposes. Due to this, the outside area including the field, play structure and steps, basket court will not be available for students. primary field and play structure area closed from 9:00am to 11:00am due to the photo taking.

Book Week start. Today, we have:

Author Storytelling in RP Auditorium:   K3 from 10:20~10:50am & K4 from 2:10~3pm

Buddy Reading: Y6 students to K2 class from 10:25~10:55am

I have been speaking with Amita and she will run an ECE SeeSaw training session on Thursday 7 September at 3.30 in the ECE Staffroom. This is for anyone who feels they want extra help in using the blog and the feed functions of seesaw.

The Blog function is just for information not photos.

The feed view is for learning, with photos, videos etc.

Please also read the ECE Guidelines on SeeSaw usage. This document is one that we will continue to seek your feedback on over the coming months.
