Visit of Regional Director (Mark Adams)

Today (RP) and tomorrow (CP),  our Regional Director Mark Adams will be visiting YCIS Pudong and has asked to meet with school leaders and visit classrooms to see first hand the excellent teaching and learning taking place at the RP Campus.

Today, Mark will be visiting ECE classrooms from approximately 8.15-9.00am, and Primary classrooms from 10.30-12.00pm and possibly in the afternoon from 1.00-2.30pm.

Tomorrow, Mark will visit the Year 6 and Secondary classes during P3-P6 at varying times.

Mark wants everyone to know that he is not here to inspect, but rather to get a feel for the school. Please note that you do not need to do anything out of the ordinary as such classroom visits should not disrupt the learning taking place. We also realize that the time scheduled for ECE will be quite busy as children will still be settling in at this point.

Should the lesson or timing allow however, a brief hello or welcome would be appreciated. Mark will likely be asking the students (in an age-appropriate way) about what they are learning so no need for you to stop the lesson to provide context on the lesson.

Below is the schedule for Mark. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding the classrooms visits.

Monday, October 22

  • 7:45am – Gate Welcome/Duty with Rob
  • 8:15am – Class Visits – ECE
  • 9:00am – Meet with ECE Leaders (RP Conference Room)
  • 10:30am – Class Visits – Primary
  • 12:00pm – Lunch with SLT/Rob
  • 12.30pm – Campus Tour / walk-around
  • 1:00pm – Class visits, office time etc…. (Directors’ Office)
  • 2:30pm – Meet with Primary Leaders (RP Conference Room)

Cafeteria

I would just like to remind you of Damien and Mary’s email sent out on Saturday afternoon. As was mentioned, there is a possibility that parents will visit the cafeteria. If parents/students ask any questions about the situation at the weekend, then please reassure them that all food and food preparation procedures here at YCIS are completely safe. We have regular inspections by the local authorities (FDA) – including this weekend, we also have our own internal inspections in place, and we have food committees with representatives from parents, school leaders and Eurest management.

A school leader will be present in the cafeteria during times when children are eating at both campuses, in case we get parent visitors. However, please can the duty/class teachers be particularly vigilant.  We ask that for the purpose of child protection and privacy, all teachers politely remind parents who visit the campus not to take photos.

If any issues arise, then please inform one of the school leaders.

Morning Snack– Today the children will receive a whole banana, if you want to give a smaller amount please ensure you have gloves on. Gloves will be provided to every classroom today.

RP Cafeteria Refrigerator

Over the weekend our cafeteria was inspected and the health authorities asked us to move the staff refrigerator out of the RP cafeteria so students are not able to access it.    As a result, we have already moved the refrigerator from the cafeteria to the Staff Lounge in the ECE Basement.  The food and drinks that were in that refrigerator are still there.  We do remind all staff members to dispose of food and drinks from the refrigerators if you don’t plan to consume them so they don’t become a health risk to everyone.  Thanks

Have a great day

V & M
