Introducing Ms Michelle Cooper – 2A International Co-Teacher

Where are you from?

I am from England.

How long have you been a teacher?

I have been teaching at home in Birmingham, in the UK, for 8 years. This is my first year at YCIS.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at YCIS?

I enjoy working with children from so many different places and hearing them speak in different languages. The focus on Chinese and English each day here is great.

Tell us an interesting fact about you?

I have a pet horse at home. His name is Desmond, He’s 23 years old and next year I’ll have had him for 20 years! I was 14 years old and at secondary school when I got him. He’s known as skewbald in colour, which is brown and white patches. His dad was a stallion that was owned by the Queen! He’s 17hh high which is quite big. He’s a big part of my life as he’s been with me through school, college, university and all of my jobs since… so I miss him a lot! There is a good friend at home looking after him and giving him lots of love and carrots!

Can you share a favourite quote?

If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely. (Roald Dahl)
