Spring Melodies

Years 2 & 3 children had been looking forward to 26th and 27th April 2017 for a long time. When the day finally came, they showed their appreciation for Spring and played beautiful melodies with the violins.

Spring Violin Concerts began at 1pm at Hongqiao Campus B building Hall. The opening performance was the “Violin Song” presented by all students, from which our children not only conveyed their love for music to the audience but also showcased their talents.

Year 2 students played ‘Hoe Down’ and ‘Action Movie’ on the first concert day. Despite their young age, they showed as much dedication as others. Therefore, the melodious sounds won over the audience and received non-stop applause and cheers. Following the class songs, six Year 2 students played a theme song from “Witches Dance” written by Paganini, a world famous composer and violinist. The audience once again marveled at their excellent skills and fantastic performance. The last two pieces were ‘Gavotte’ and ‘Coconut Man’ by two soloists, reaching a climax of the concert.

The Year 3 Violin Concert was held the next day after the huge success of the Year 2 Violin Concert.

Year 3 students chose ‘Spring and Morning’ as their class performing song. The audience were indulged in their accurate bowing and expressive timbre. The unique violin programme at Hongqiao Campus certainly brought much joy to our children and we could see how talented they were when they were playing. Thirteen Year 3 students performed the next piece ‘Barcarolie’, which touched every audience’s heart.

During the concerts, we also invited two special performing guests from Year 5. Jake and Chi Lam brought us two solo pieces, ‘Praeludium and Allegro’ and ‘Salut d’ Amour’. Their outstanding performance inspired every music lover that music is a life-long dream.

The last piece of the concerts were ‘Hayden Rock’ and ‘Ode to Joy’ performed by teachers and students. A storm of applause was the highest praise for our children. Even though the performance lasted only one hour, all Years 2 & 3 students and the two violin teachers had put so much effort in it for almost a year. Thank you for your continuous support and we would like to say to all the students: You are the best!

As the saying goes: A year’s plan starts with spring. The seeds of music have been planted in every child’s heart. Let’s make the seeds grow up and follow our music dream! See you next year!
