Memorable Time in Chinese Storytelling

A beautiful story is like a piece of colorful painting with unique imagination that makes it unforgettable for people. In the season when everything turns green, YCIS held an annual Chinese Storytelling Competition in order to motivate students’ passion to read and provide a stage for them to show their talents.

The competition was indeed very competitive that all candidates from CAL and CFL groups were actively engaged, which brought us tons of vivid characters from stories. Their performance was both professional and enthusiastic. Students used different tones, gestures and props to help their expressions, enabling us to see a lovely fish, a wise man, a united monkey and a sly fox, etc. The audience was transfixed. Sometimes they were being quiet, but the presentations were received with hearty rounds of applause. In the whole school assembly held on 2nd May, our Co-Principals presented the prizes for the winners. With the applause from the whole school, the competition ended up with a happy ending.

Although the Chinese Storytelling Competition has finished, we believe that our students will keep the passion and habit of reading, and we hope that from this activity more and more children will be encouraged to read widely.
