Raz Kids

RAZ Kids should become a part of your weekly homework schedule from week 5.

Below are instructions for setting up Raz Kids as and when you are ready.

Please note that all international co-teachers and EAL teachers should have a Raz Kids log in.

New teachers should have received an email from Learning A-Z with instructions for setting up their log in.

Please build your class roster in RAZ Kids by finding the students who are in your class this year.  You can do this by using the “Transfer Students” option in your classroom roster.

The following tips are useful for finding students quickly.

  • In the transfer students section, make sure you set school to “all schools in district”-this searches all the various names for our school which have been entered over the years.
  • Suggest searching each of last years’ teachers of the year before in turn, plus the EAL advanced teacher-in this way you will find all your students except the new ones. Don’t search for individual students.
  • New students should be added using the “add students” option.

  • Here is a list of last year’s teachers for the above process:SH-PD-ECE-PRI-Staff-List-2018-19-4
  • Here is a list of where EAL students were last year and who their teachers were:EAL CLASS LISTS 2018-2019[2]
  • Once the student is added to your roster, please confirm their PM Level from your assessment data and assign each student to the RAZ Kids Level (A-Z) using the correlation chart.  For example a student who has achieved PM Level 21, should be assigned to RAZ Kids Level L/M.  Any student who is working at PM Level 30 or below should be assigned to RAZ Kids.  Once they complete PM Level 30, RAZ Kids Level Z, they will no longer use RAZ Kids.  Reading Correlation Chart
  • Use the function in Raz Kids to print the students’ user name and password, and paste this in the front of the students’ diary
  • Please ask me if you or your team want a full refresher or introduction on how to use Raz Kids-I am happy to do this.
  • Please ask me if you need your user name and password from last year

Should you have any questions, please contact your Year Leader, Melissa or I.

Thanks,

John

Mathletics

The rollover for Mathletics has been completed. Teachers should be assigned to their correct classes, and students should be in their correct classes.

Click here for teacher log in details: TeachersSignInCards

You can go ahead and print off login cards and assign students to differentiated groups based on your SATs results when you have this information

Please let me know of any problems, or students who are missing.

See the below guide for more information about setting up Mathletics.

End of Year Certificates – Action Needed

Dear Co-Teachers,

As last year, we will give an individualised award to every student which celebrates an area they have tried hard or excelled at over the year.

With this in mind, we have prepared the award template. These awards should be shared at class parties in the last week. You will find the templates for these certificates below (separate templates for RP and CP)

Action points

  • Create a certificate for each student with their name and the reason for their award, by changing the names and reason currently on the template. You will need to work with co-teachers, specialists and EAL teachers (if relevant and necessary) to find an appropriate reason. You can use the comments from the specialists for the reports to help you.
  • Make sure you insert both co-teachers’ names at the bottom of the certificate, and change the class name in the middle.
  • Please ensure that the reason for the certificate starts with “For….”.
E.G: For always being willing to ask for help when she needs it
  • The reason should be appropriate and reflect something positive they have done or worked at this year. A set of sample reasons is attached for your reference below.
  • The reason should not be “jokey”-e.g “For being the biggest chatterbox”. Find something genuine to celebrate.
  • Please give an individualised reason for each student.
  • Once you have typed up your certificates, send a soft copy of them to one of your colleagues to proofread. Please ensure you do not send certificates home with any errors or typos.
  • Please email your certificates to Helen/Elia and ask them to print these certificates once they are completed. Please do this by Wednesday 19th June. You should consolidate the certificates into one file.
  • Give the certificates out at your party.

Message from Clair McEnhill

I am running my first half marathon ever in August this year. I am running for a charity that is close to my heart called ‘CALM’ (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

CALM is dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. On average 12 men take their own life every day. CALM works to prevent male suicide by providing services for men who are down or in crisis, and by campaigning for culture change so men feel able to seek help. https://www.thecalmzone.net

It would be great if you could support this cause and sponsor me please click on my page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/clair-mcenhill. I can also take donations in cash and WeChat if that works better.
