Accreditation – Message from Andy

As mentioned in last week’s daily news, please would you take some time this morning to get across the following key points to your students in an age appropriate way:

Visitors to Lessons  – As part of our re-accreditation process with the Council of International Schools, a team of teachers from international schools across Asia will be visiting lessons over the coming few days to get a feel for what learning at YCIS Pudong looks like, sounds like, and feels like. Please note:

  • The visiting teachers are just trying to get a general impression of our school. They are NOT judging you or your performance as individual students, so you can feel relaxed if they visit your lesson.
  • They may ask to speak to one or two students in each class. If this is you, then please respond honestly and also think about a positive outlook you can include in your answer. They may ask you to talk about what you are learning, and you can use the Lesson Objectives to help explain this.
  • If it is helpful for your response, please do feel free to refer to YCIS C.A.R.E.S. or the Learner Profile/Helping Hands to frame your answer.

Please also remember to check your displays and learning areas prior to classroom visits.

If you have any questions, please email Rob Cooke.

Events happening today:

  • Y6-7 Music Recital Recordings, CP Theatre, 5pm
  • Chinese Leaders meeting
  • Accreditation Classroom Visits, 10.30am

Performing Arts Information

  • IIIP Instrumental Music – Lessons continue this week! (RP & CP) – Teachers please note students’ IIIP lessons for 2022-2023 continue this week. Please check the attached schedules and help to remind students of lesson times to help ensure attendance is at its maximum. Schedules will also be posted in Learning Communities and in the Music area of both RP and CP.
  • Rehearsal Schedule Attached for Recess Music CCAs (RP Campus) – Teachers please refer to the attached schedule to help advise and  remind students of this week’s recess CCAs. Please encourage students should be more independent and responsible with showing up to their rehearsals. Year 4 teachers can also refer students to schedules and lists displayed in the Learning Community.

Developing a Positive School Culture (RP Y1-4)

Thank you to the Y1-4 staff who have completed the positive behaviour survey sent last week. If you have yet to do so, please complete it (individually, or as part of your team) via the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/qYBgPDcjFT

We will be reviewing your feedback and suggestions this week, and will look to develop an action plan, which we will run through at the next meeting.

Learning Conferences

Please check the Learning Conference information located on the staff blog:

ECE & Primary Learning Conferences – November 2022

Location of Documents on Teams

As you would be aware, in order to organise the folders and files stored on Teams, we have decided to re-structure the documents.

Whilst this process is still ongoing, most ECE and primary documents have been placed in the YCISSH Pudong ECE & Primary Teachers Team, including the school calendars. Please see following screenshot of the location (click to enlarge). Don’t forget to check the ‘hidden’ channels:

New Staff ID card

Please remember to go to the following location to pick up your staff ID card:

Please also remember to activate your card in order to use the card for printer and cafeteria services. Please see Stafanie Wang’s email sent on Friday for more details.

Please also remember to return your old card to HR – this can be done through the school office. This is important for security reasons; the ID cards allows people to enter campuses, and so we do not wish to have old ID cards in circulation.
